Become a Voice for The Vulnerable in England

Engage with us to save social care provision in England. Together we can influence Government policy to fund a care system that works for the disabled and vulnerable who rely on professional care for dignified living.

Care System
Collapsing

Decisions to cut public funding over a prolonged period have been disastrous for social care. Care homes and home care services are closing, staff are leaving the sector in record numbers while the supply of foreign workers is being shut down. The vulnerable and their families are being left to fend for themselves, or rely on reduced services.

Increasing Care
Demands

With an ageing and less healthy population it is anticipated 400,000 more carers will be needed by 2040 to support those requiring professional care. Without these care staff more unpaid carers will be drawn from the workforce to care for their loved-ones. There are already 5 million unpaid carers in England.

Low Priority for Governments

Over three decades, governments have ignored a growing social care crisis. 25 different social care commissions, select committee inquiries and white papers have not answered key questions about the funding, sustainability, and delivery of social care. Social care leaders' urgent calls for funding reform are being ignored.

Voters' Voices Needed

Voters need to be engaged to advocate for a better future for social care by requiring their MPs to make the critical care needs of the old and vulnerable a higher priority. The WhoCares campaign is designed to showcase the problems and opportunities in social care and prompt and enable voters to take action. Get involved

Who Cares About Social Care?

MPs regularly say their constituents don't write about the poor state of social care. We aim to change that. There are millions directly impacted by the care crisis, including those who can't access care, receive sub-standard care, work in the sector, as well as those relied on to deliver unpaid care for a loved one.  We aim to mobilise these voters, as well as millions of others, who do care about the plight of the elderly and vulnerable and want improved social care provision for them.

Why galvanise voters?

Sustained lobbying by social care representative bodies, operators and leaders hasn't yet achieved significant funding reform for the sector.

It has been too easy for Governments to side-step these efforts because they haven't been backed-up by a requirement from voters to follow through.

Politicians understand protecting the NHS is a priority for voters and regularly deliver increases in funding and staffing.

It follows by giving a voice to voters who feel equally passionate about the need to save social care a political appetite for immediate funding reform will emerge.

Campaign Approach

WhoCares is showcasing how the vulnerable, who rely on paid carers to live safe and meaningful lives, are being denied access to effective and dignified care regardless of their personal financial position.  By provoking an emotional response to the collapse of the social care sector we will galvanise those who care about the plight of the vulnerable to contact their MP to call for change.

Compelling Care Stories

Video shorts telling heartwarming care stories, as well as showcasing the failures, will be used to both inspire and stoke indignation and a strong desire for change.

Advocates Sharing Stories

Through social media advertising and charismatic social care advocates, a clear and compelling case for funding reform will target those most likely to take action to contact their MP.

Voter Mobilisation

Technology tools will help voters to contact their MP to require funding reform of social care.  Some calls-to-action will be coordinated to coincide with key political social care decisions.

Partnerships

Collaboration with social care leaders, other campaigners and bodies representing the vulnerable will amplify our messages and reach the widest possible group of voters.
